“Jon was brilliant and the workshop was amazing. The students really engaged with him and his energy was great! The students loved it especially the balancing feather part they are still talking about this today. All students were completely engaged and most of them showed off a skill and stood up in front of their peers which is amazing for them.”

“ I wanted to pass on sincere gratitude from the teaching staff and children of our school for making our end of term so fun and enjoyable- even on a wet, grey day in Bury! Andy and Obby were amazing from start to finish, working so hard to ensure we all had a wonderful time: from the amazing shows they performed, to the outstanding kindness, care and patience they showed in teaching our children their amazing circus skills. We were all mesmerised and so many children and staff said how brilliant the day was and how quickly the time flew by! The staff were still talking about it on our WhatsApp group last night and I also received messages of thanks from parent governors of the school, saying how much their children had enjoyed the day. We were all sad to see Andy and Obby leave and feel we have made two new friends.  After the difficult 17 months we have all endured, this has been a well-deserved highlight for our children and staff and I cannot thank you all enough for bringing smiles and laughter to our school. We will certainly invite you back to Chesham again in the future! Thanks again. “

His methods of teaching the basics of scarf juggling and feather balacing ensured that all children succeeded and were engaged. The variety of equipment he brought was vast and the children really enjoyed the opportuinity to try so many different skills. A brilliant morning - thank you! "

" I would like to say how amazing Obby was when he came to visit us for our festival. He set the mood for the day with fun and laughter, what an entertainer! He worked tirelessly throughout the day and was amazing with the children. I could not recommend him high enough to any other school. Please could you pass on our thanks to him, the children are still talking about him and asking when he is coming back "

The Science of Circus

"Complex tasks such as juggling produce significant changes to the structure of the brain, according to scientists at Oxford University.
In the journal, Nature Neuroscience, the scientists say they saw a 5% increase in white matter - the cabling network of the brain." In brief, learning a new skill such as Juggling can hard wire our brains to work better and faster! Circus skills help develop and improve concentration skills. This is particularly evident in those children with shorter attention spans. When we run Circus skills workshops in schools the teachers are often amazed that one or more children who usually have a problem concentrating are doing better than anyone else in the class! Learning Circus skills also offers great benefits in terms of physical co-ordination and physical fitness. Circus workshops fit very well into the school curriculum under PE and co-ordination development. In fact there are many areas where Circus workshops offer great opportunities for curriculum enrichment.

Activities such as Circus skills have been used with great success as an educational tool, as an aid to learning as well as therapeutically with children at risk and with children with special needs. Autistic children have been observed to respond particularly well to Circus skills in schools. Circus skills are an opportunity for children and adults to discover and develop skills such as Concentration, Information retention, Concept visualisation, hand eye co-ordination and self awareness. These skills can then be used in many other settings including social situations and in conventional educational settings whilst learning the core subjects.
