" I would like to express my sincerest thanks to Jon for making our ‘Circus Day’ soooooo very successful. It was an amazing experience for the children and staff- he worked very hard throughout the day. I am looking at dates for a ‘Big Top Day’ before the end of the academic year and will be in touch once the discussions have been had."

" It was a brilliant success!! Organising events in a special needs school always carries an element of risk but it simply could not have gone better. Jon was fantastic with the children, he brought out the best in them and they were able to showcase their newly acquired skills. It was great to see the children demonstrating their resilience and tenacity whilst having so much fun. The adults also had a fun time as they were able to relax and enjoy Jon's sharp humour during the days activities. I've had lots of feedback from the staff saying what an amazing day it was and how lovely it was to see our children interacting so positively with each other, not only did the children learn circus skills but they were also developing their social skills. Jon was constantly on the go and was attentive and intuitive with the children, knowing exactly how to interact with them and bring out the best in them. We would highly recommend Circus Sensible and Jon to any school wishing to hold an all inclusive event "

“ Just wanted to say a massive thank you to Stu for his hard work at the Catalyst Festival on Sunday. We really appreciated his presence and cheerfulness and the way we could just leave him, in all the chaos, to crack on and cater for people as they rocked up. It was clearly lots of fun and everyone enjoyed it!”

“We honestly cannot thank you enough, Jon was amazing and just filled the room with so much fun! For me he was just the delight of the day! We would definitely be interested in using you again and passing on your name to many others!! I’d like to let you know that through your donated time we have managed to raise £2532 for the family we were fundraising for. Which is just remarkable for a little nursery like ourselves, and couldn’t have been done without your support! So Thankyou from the bottom of my heart. “

“ Thanks for giving the children and teachers a great morning. Jon was fantastic he was able to hold the attention of even the youngest children the whole time, and teachers were able to relax and enjoy the show and workshop. There were activities that all ages of children could try.”

The Science of Circus

"Complex tasks such as juggling produce significant changes to the structure of the brain, according to scientists at Oxford University.
In the journal, Nature Neuroscience, the scientists say they saw a 5% increase in white matter - the cabling network of the brain." In brief, learning a new skill such as Juggling can hard wire our brains to work better and faster! Circus skills help develop and improve concentration skills. This is particularly evident in those children with shorter attention spans. When we run Circus skills workshops in schools the teachers are often amazed that one or more children who usually have a problem concentrating are doing better than anyone else in the class! Learning Circus skills also offers great benefits in terms of physical co-ordination and physical fitness. Circus workshops fit very well into the school curriculum under PE and co-ordination development. In fact there are many areas where Circus workshops offer great opportunities for curriculum enrichment.

Activities such as Circus skills have been used with great success as an educational tool, as an aid to learning as well as therapeutically with children at risk and with children with special needs. Autistic children have been observed to respond particularly well to Circus skills in schools. Circus skills are an opportunity for children and adults to discover and develop skills such as Concentration, Information retention, Concept visualisation, hand eye co-ordination and self awareness. These skills can then be used in many other settings including social situations and in conventional educational settings whilst learning the core subjects.
