"A huge thanks to Jon and Kyle who were brilliant with the children and 'big kids' too! As you said they really worked round us and enabled the day to be relaxed and fun. The two guys kept things moving along for the children and got everyone involved. You may have new recruit to help with your annual festival in Scotland. Shuna, one of our play therapists does circus skills too and was chatting to Jon and Kyle. Great how these days pan out....... Thanks again"

"This is the second event recently and you did a great job (we will send you copies of the evaluations) Kyle & Obby were particularly good and really engaged with the children and the parents, everyone has made comments of how funny they were and the children were kept captivated. The show they put on at the end kept everyone focused especially the children (this is some achievement as some of the children have attention deficit disorder). Could not say enough about these guys really entertaining and would definitely use again"

"I just wanted to feedback to you following the workshop last week. We were really pleased with the workshop. Obby managed the young people really well. As you may be aware we are a fostering organisation so all of the young people in attendance are currently living with Foster Parents. They can be challenging at times and when together in a group this can heighten the behaviours they exhibit. Obby showed the young people how to use all the different equipment clearly and with humour. He spent time with those that struggled and encouraged them when necessary. He was able to sense when to move things along and made sure that everyone felt included, even staff! At the end of the day, young people had the opportunity to show Foster Parents what they had learnt which was lovely to see"

"We have used Circus Sensible 3 times now, twice at our Youth Club and once at a Summer Holiday Club. Each time they have been brilliant, great with the children, thoroughly entertaining, everyone always takes part, even the adults! It's great how they start off with easy, manageable tricks to build confidence to then work on more difficult skills. It is all done with humour and fun and makes for a really great time for everyone present. They bring a huge amount of equipment so everyone can have a go at everything. Easy to book and totally reliable, I can't praise them enough!"

The Science of Circus

"Complex tasks such as juggling produce significant changes to the structure of the brain, according to scientists at Oxford University. In the journal, Nature Neuroscience, the scientists say they saw a 5% increase in white matter - the cabling network of the brain." In brief, learning a new skill such as Juggling can hard wire our brains to work better and faster! Circus skills help develop and improve concentration skills. This is particularly evident in those children with shorter attention spans. When we run Circus skills workshops in schools the teachers are often amazed that one or more children who usually have a problem concentrating are doing better than anyone else in the class! Learning Circus skills also offers great benefits in terms of physical co-ordination and physical fitness. Circus workshops fit very well into the school curriculum under PE and co-ordination development. In fact there are many areas where Circus workshops offer great opportunities for curriculum enrichment.

Activities such as Circus skills have been used with great success as an educational tool, as an aid to learning as well as therapeutically with children at risk and with children with special needs. Autistic children have been observed to respond particularly well to Circus skills in schools. Circus skills are an opportunity for children and adults to discover and develop skills such as Concentration, Information retention, Concept visualisation, hand eye co-ordination and self awareness. These skills can then be used in many other settings including social situations and in conventional educational settings whilst learning the core subjects.
